Some lovely weather again and Rachel took some nice shots of the beach in Camp - lovely, and deserted too.
Caitlin had a lovely afternoon at Bey's birthday party on Saturday. Not only did Bey get a huge trampoline as a present, but they also had the Animal Roadshow along at their house. They bring along all sorts of creatures from a huge Gecko, to a tortoise, a selection of small cuddly creatures, and a Tarantula! Now, the biggest surprise of the afternoon was that Rachel actually allowed the rather large spider to crawl along her hand and arm, and now reckons that her fear of spiders has been cured! ( I have seen the video as well, so it's true - respect! )

We've just had Joan and Robin from Cornwall staying with us for a few days, lovely people, and if anyone fancies staying in Trevone, not far from Padstow, they have a cottage for rent there - looks very nice. They went to try out the newly re-opened Cottage Restaurant in Camp - now Paddy's Cottage. They had a lovely meal, and went for the 15 euro menu - sounds good value, nice to see - I think we should treat ourselves! It was also good to welcome back Peter and Martina back from Clonakilty, and we have a full house tonight.

The Easter break turned out well, with good weather and just the occasional shower. There was good surf at Gowlane on Sunday, and went out with Mairt, Declan, and Phil - a great session, and thanks to Mairt and Una for dinner afterwards. Had a quick surf again yesterday, and Rachel and Caitlin came as well ( but fell asleep in the van, bless them! ) Rachel surpassed herself in the cookery department - I bought some lovely black Sole from the new fishmongers in Tralee and she cooked it up with wild sorrel and tri-corner leeks from the garden, and capers, and it was beautiful! I'd better dust off the old fishing rod....

I don't seem to have had much time to update the blog this week - a lot has been going on! Anyway, Happy Easter to everyone, thanks to all who gave presents to Caitlin - she has been properly spoilt. Last week Rachel took Sunday school, and as it was Palm Sunday, she asked Pauline and Les to bring their donkeys to the Rectory, and the kids got to ride on them, so there was great excitement all round. We also have two new donkeys in Les's field next to us - Pedro and Lefty, who Paudie and Nuala have brought up to feed on all the lush grass: they seem very friendly as well. I've also been giving Ian a hand up at Gortbrack Organic Farm to finish off the eco cabins ready for their first guests: they have turned out really well. We also got to take a look at a short video of what goes on at the farm which was produced for the DPS ( Discover Primary Science ) project for schools - even Q, the Kerry cow got in on the act! I was then busy helping John put up his new polytunnel, which looks great, and we've been busy planting more in ours. Off to cook breakfast now!

As it was such a lovely day, the new wetsuit had to be given a test, so we went down to Sandy Bay. Caitlin didn't stop running and got in up to her knees, and splashed around in the waves - a great success!
I feel like I'm on my way to being a proper Kerryman as on Thursday I was helping Gene plant his potatos - it was a beautiful day for it, and we think we put in about 300 spuds, a good days work!
Caitlin has been very excited as she is now the proud owner of her first wetsuit, modelled in the photo. She also had to put on her new pink wellies: she was all ready to go outside and play, but realised it was raining and didn't want to get wet....
