Haven't mentioned windsurfing too much lately, as I haven't been out as much as I would like! Had a good sail at Fermoyle yesterday, 3.7m weather, but pretty cold on the hands. Did pack up when a massive hailstorm hit, which was pretty painful...today was also good: had a look at Gowlane this morning, which was huge, extremely windy and pretty offshore. There were only four or five braving it, and various bits of broken kit were dragged back up the beach - only Rob Jones was making it look manageable. Was sensible and retired to Mark and Lauras for a cuppa. Had a sail later, again at Fermoyle with Mark, Ady, and Marcus, which was a great session.

Had a mail the other day from the publishers of Schmap, which is a travel guide, saying that a picture we had posted on Flickr had been shortlisted for inclusion in the latest guide. It turns out that this was a picture Rachel took on her mobile phone when we went to the Gap of Dunloe ( see below for the blog entry for 7th Jan. ) They mailed back today to say it was now in the guide - famous at last !

It's only taken just over four years, but we have finally got round to buying some new curtains! We managed to find some we both liked, now all we need to do is get some new poles....another four years?
On an unhappy note, it looks like a fox has taken another of our ducks, Motley, which is a real shame as she was quite a character, always first to the food bowl. The ducks had been laying five or six eggs between them each day, so I guess we'll need to get another one to add to the flock.

Rachel and Caitlin have just returned from a few days in Plymouth to celebrate Reg and Jeans Golden Wedding Anniversary. Caitlin had to make herself the centre of attention, asking for the microphone when Jean was doing her thankyou speech, and saying hello to everyone - is this a sign of things to come? She looks older than 2 1/2 when she's all dressed up!
As usual the weather has been beautiful for the last couple of days, but has turned colder and windier for the Easter Weekend!

The weather forecasters had been giving dire warnings for the worst storms in years over the last couple of days, and although it was really rough, the winds were north westerly, and it wasn't too bad here ( haven't been out windsurfing though!! ) It has been pretty bad further north and over in England, with around 12,000 homes in both places without power. I think the forecasters were trying to cover themselves, just in case it was worse than they said - remember Michael Fish a few years ago? We have still had some guests in; Frances from Florida has been here for six nights, and has had a great time, and managed to do some horseriding in Castlegregory. The weather has been showery, but often really sunny, so good weather for touring around. Also, Gustav and Valda stayed ( Swedish but living in France, with relatives in Cork ) who visited the Gap of Dunloe and Carrantouhill - even more spectacular with some wild weather ( and very quiet! )

Just as we thought Spring was here, today we have had loads of hail! Big lumps as well, and Caitlin was running round with her hands over her ears saying 'Loud!' The ducks obviously think Spring is in the air as they are starting to lay a few more eggs, three a day now. Rachel has been putting out food for the birds, and we've seen Blue Tits, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Chaffinches, Robins, Pied Wagtails, Yellow Wagtails, Goldfinches, and of course, Jackdaws.
