Last Monday we visited my sisters friend Sarah Dearling aboard the huge ocean liner The Oriana!

Sarah is a nurse on board and the boat was docking in Dublin on its way to Iceland - so Sarah invited us to come on board for lunch and a look a round.

So we bundled two 7 week old babies (my nephews) and a 7 year old very excited Caitlin into the car and off we set. We did get slightly lost but it was all worth it when we saw the golden funnel of The Oriana.

We  passed through security and entered onto the boat - it had 13 floors and was amazing.

We had a lovely lunch and a tour all courtesy of Sarah.
It was a great day out and everyone throughly enjoyed it.

Was a great adventure

School holidays are nearly upon us. Caitlin finishes school this Friday for the start of the 10 week long summer vacation!
She will then return to school 7 years old and a 1st year Junior! where does the time go?

Just a funny picture attached of Caitlin taking a bath in a tub at Laura and Marks house, after kayaking in the river!!

Also went on a brilliant mini retreat this week run by Eva of the Kalyana Centre for mindful ness in Dingle!
I throughly enjoyed my day and came away - aware (as Eva said) we all talk too much - allow some silence into your life! as we  never actually listen to nature, go for a walk in silence and see just how enjoyable it is!!
I'd recommend this day to anyone of any age and gender who wants to learn meditation skills an how to stop the chatter going on in our heads.

Rachel had a great time in Turkey. She went to Side a very historical part of the country with Roman ruins galore! The weather was a balmy 28 degrees every day but we did have one thunder and lightening storm which was interesting as we were walking back to the apartment when the heavens opened, and if you have evert been to Turkey the rain drop are huge!! within in minutes we were soaked - but hey it didn't matter it was still 28 degrees!!
Rachel came back to a great welcome home from Caitlin, Lilly, Cats and Ducks. It was lovely to be back in Ireland but a bit shocking at 10 degrees brrrrrr.
The bookings for the B&B this year are going really well especially bookings from Air B&B!.
The kerry Camino is due to open next month which is a historical walk along the Dingle Way in the foot steps of St Brendan. The local walking companies are very excited about this venture as am I.
Below a snap shot of Side harbor, and me in the ancient theatre.

Well I know its been awhile but I'm back posting now.
We have a new addition to the family .....a puppy called Lilly - she is a cross between a Sheltie and a Pomeranian so quite small.
She is great fun though and ensures that Rachel has her daily walk on the beach to keep fit.
Lilly is a rescue dog and was abandoned in a shed in Tralee - then Suzanne from AHAR rescued her and she now with us.
We have had her 10 weeks and she has slotted into the family as if she has always been here, she even gets on with the ducks!!
Caitlin adores her of course!

The Bus Stop

We have to say that's pretty cool. Our friend Ryan has been busy doing up an old Dublin double decker bus, and it's been transformed into the Bus Stop Kite surf and Pizza shop! It's down on the Maharees, just near the beach, so you can order your pizza and have a stroll ( or surf/windsurf/kitesurf - delete as necessary ) then go back and pick up your freshly made pizza, or even book a kite surf lesson, or buy gear. And, they are seriously good: homemade sauce, and local organic ingredients, thanks to Thomas and Claire at Manna Organic farm, and Kate at Beal cheese. They'll take orders over the phone too - just call Ryan or Lisa on 087 369 1985
Just waiting for the surf to get up.....

Birthday Girl

Phew, what a couple of weeks! It was Caitlins birthday last week, and despite a few showers in the morning, the skies cleared and all the kids who came round for her birthday party could run around outside. Of course, she was spoilt rotten! Many thanks to everyone who came and for all the presents, and especially to Tracey who helped out so much with all the work in the kitchen! She was also treated to a day out shopping with her Auntie Corinne, so came home with all sorts of sparkly clothes and shoes - delighted, of course! You'll probably see that her two front teeth are now gone, and she managed to swallow them both!

It was all go at the Dingle Aquarium yesterday, with Today FM's Ray D'Arcy visiting Dingle, and Suzanne and Katie starring on National radio, also the girls from the Seal Sanctuary. We then got a call from Suzanne saying that Humpback Whales had been spotted off of the Blasket Islands so we rushed down to Ventry for a boat trip out with Marine Eco Tours to see if we could spot them. It was a lovely evening for a boat trip, very calm ( although Rachel didn't think so - feeling a bit queasy!! ) and we had a load of Oceanworld staff on hand for expert advice, and Mike Sheeran and his crew to thank for a great trip. Luckily Rachels brother Alex, girlfriend Julie, and Corinne and Dan managed to get to come out as well. Unfortunately no whales to be seen this time, and we even bumped into Carsten who had come down from County Clare for the day hoping for a few nice shots. We did see loads of Puffins, Razorbills, Gannets, Guillimots and many other sea birds, then loads of seals, and a great show of Dolphins jumping and swimming around the boat. The views of the Blasket Islands are also fantastic. Caitlin also got to drive the boat for a while, I don't think she sat still for more than ten seconds for the whole trip -
